LEHIGH VALLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Lehigh Valley International Airport project, designed by Dominique Michelle Vidal, focuses on enhancing the airport's interior spaces to improve the overall passenger experience. This includes innovative designs for elements like vertical circulation, including escalators and elevators, as well as unique ceiling and lighting designs. The project aims to streamline passenger movement while elevating the aesthetic appeal of the airport's interior. We worked with The Sheward Partnership, an architecture firm based in Philadelphia, PA. We worked together on additional projects: One Hunt Valley, and Mercantile Apartments.

The Lehigh Valley International Airport's Terminal Connector page describes improvements to passenger experience through a new connector. This includes up to four TSA screening lanes, improved vertical circulation with escalators and elevators, shorter walking distances, and an enhanced air purification system. The project, aiming for LEED Gold Certification, incorporates environmentally friendly and health-conscious features. The Airport Authority, with federal, state, and local funding, supports the initiative. For more information, visit Lehigh Valley International Airport's Terminal Connector page.

The Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) website offers a variety of information and services for travelers. It includes details on flights, parking and transportation options, travel assistance, and the ABE Advantage program, which enhances passenger experience. The site also provides a nonstop destination route map, information about the ABE Aero Club, and various traveler FAQs. Users can find out about airport services, such as the C.O.P.E. Therapy Dog Program and the Navigators Volunteer Program. For more information, visit flyabe.com.

ENTERING THE TSA CHECKPOINT

EXTERIOR VIEW OF THE CONNECTOR AND VERTICAL CIRCULATION

"The current layout of Lehigh Valley International Airport requires outbound passengers to travel through an underground tunnel to pass through the security checkpoint, then go up two escalators to arrive at the departure building. Arriving passengers travel the opposite direction through the same tunnel.

Construction of a bridge between the main terminal and departure building means departing passengers will go up one escalator and cross the bridge to get to the departure building, while arriving passengers will continue to exit through the underground tunnel."
