ARMONK COLONIAL

This Armonk, New York colonial renovation reflects a refined transitional update layered onto a strong traditional foundation. Interior designer Dominique Michelle Vidal was brought in by the new homeowners to elevate and unify the existing residence, collaborating with Falcon Design Build to refresh key spaces while preserving the home’s classic architectural character. Spanning over 9,000 square feet, this Westchester County home was thoughtfully refined through material upgrades, architectural adjustments, and cohesive design direction.

The kitchen was completely refaced and customized to achieve a more elevated and intentional look. All cabinetry was repainted and enhanced with refined detailing, including fluted glass inserts for added texture and architectural interest. A custom painted island in a rich green tone anchors the space, creating contrast against the white perimeter cabinetry. The LeBlanc quartzite countertops to introduce movement, brightness, and natural elegance into the kitchen.. Full-height stone backsplashes, all new lighting fixtures, updated hardware, and a refined finish palette modernized the space while maintaining its colonial integrity.

A custom antiqued mirror was handcrafted and installed behind the stove, creating a distinctive focal point that reflects light and connects the kitchen visually to the surrounding living areas. This detail adds depth and character while elevating the overall design.

The hardwood floors throughout the entire first floor were sanded and stained with a custom mix to create warmth and continuity. Decorative columns between the kitchen and living room were removed to improve flow and open sightlines, strengthening the connection between the main living areas.

In the main living room, extensive millwork and a substantial stone fireplace define the architecture. Dominique layered warm leather seating, tailored neutrals, and curated built-ins to balance grandeur with comfort. Fresh paint selections throughout the home enhance natural light and unify the spaces.

In the primary bedroom, stenciling was removed and replaced with Phillip Jeffries grass cloth wallpaper. Custom millwork was added to the ceiling, elevating the architectural detail and creating a more refined retreat.

This Armonk colonial renovation demonstrates how strategic updates, including full kitchen refacing, LeBlanc quartzite selection, custom antiqued mirror fabrication, flooring refinishing, and architectural refinement, can transform a traditional home into a cohesive and timeless estate.
