Irvington Kitchen
Calacatta Viola marble brings bold veining to this kitchen in Irvington, New York. Warm wood cabinetry, a dark painted island and a square tile backsplash balance the movement of the stone, creating a palette with both texture and contrast.
Dominique Michelle Vidal refined the cabinet layouts with the homeowners and their cabinetmaker, then developed the material palette through design boards, renderings and a visit to the stone yard. The design process brought the cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures, hardware and lighting into one coordinated plan.
The details received the same attention as the larger selections. Cabinet hardware was planned for size and placement, and the lighting above the sink was revised to suit the sloped ceiling. The finished kitchen brings natural materials and practical details together within a clean, modern design.
